T3 President Participates in Jordan Women's Business Summit

March 05, 2007

Gay Warren Gaddis, president and CEO of T3 (The Think Tank), recently joined a select group of 50 American and 50 Arab women business leaders at the Jordan Women Business Leaders Summit in Amman, Jordan, Feb. 27 - March 2.

Designed to facilitate links between American, Jordanian and the broader Middle Eastern business communities, the public-private sector outreach program was in partnership with the U.S. Department of State's Office for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, led by Ambassador Karen Hughes, and co-chaired by the Honorable Bonnie McElveen-Hunter, American Red Cross chairman, and Luma Kawar, wife of the former Jordanian Ambassador and founder of the International Women's Forum in Jordan.

During the summit, participants from Jordan, the Palestinian Territories, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Syria, the United Arab Emirates and the U.S. shared their experiences and exchanged best practices through a variety of keynote speeches, mentoring sessions and panel discussions.

Gaddis participated on the panel "How Do You Spell Success?" Moderated by Jordan's minister of planning and international cooperation, Suhair Al-Ali, the panel offered general tips for success in business, addressed challenges that the panelists faced throughout their careers and discussed the importance of mentorship and helping women around the world achieve success.

"The summit served as a catalyst to help break down the political barriers women often face in today's global marketplace," said Gaddis. "By bringing together women from around the world, we were able to foster an understanding of our different companies and cultures, and take strides to advance in business."

The Arab businesswomen will travel to the U.S. later this spring to visit their American partners' companies and exchange views on management styles and business skills. Then, all of the women will travel to Washington, DC, to meet with senior government officials and members of Congress and attend special program sessions at Georgetown University.
