Renaissance Hotels & Resorts Gets Social Online, Joins Facebook as First Hotel with Guest Fan Page

May 19, 2008

Following the success of Renaissance Hotels & Resorts' microsite, RevealRenaissance.com, Renaissance Hotels & Resorts has extended its community to Facebook.

Interactive creative agency T3 branded the Facebook page and applications to offer guests an additional platform to interact and engage with the brand through a customized social experience.

    Elements include:
  • A "Cocktail Culture" widget allows guests to mix a specialty signature drink from a Renaissance property and send it to a friend. Guests can also download and add the experience to their own profile page.
  • A direct link to enter and Win a Trip to Paris on RevealRenaissance.com. Guests are invited to contribute an "interesting stay," to the site, uploading photographs and recommending favorite restaurants, bars and sights. The sweepstakes ends June 1, 2008, and the drawing for the grand prize winner will be chosen at random by June 16.
  • A Today's Interesting Stays section where guests can view a sampling of "interesting stays." When guests create their own "interesting stay" on the site, they can now opt to feature it on their Facebook profile pages.

"Over 16,000 guests have contributed to the Paris sweepstakes user-generated content component," said Deborah Fell, Senior Vice President, Marketing Strategy and Integration, Marriott International. "Through the social connectivity of Facebook, Renaissance Hotels aims to harness the power of the growing interest in Renaissance, build brand awareness through the social community and enhance the reach of our current marketing efforts."

"From a business perspective, we found that we could reach four-to-five times as many people in our targeted demographic on Facebook compared to the number of subscribers in the current Renaissance print media spend," said Andrea Lennon, T3 account director. "But beyond the numbers, Facebook's culture of discovery and exchange was simply a perfect way to give people a more personal connection and introduction to Renaissance."

RevealRenaissance.com, banner ads, e-mail, a direct mail piece created by T3 and a series of three print ads developed by mcgarrybowen were also part of the overall integrated campaign push to raise Renaissance awareness and engage guests online.

The Renaissance Facebook page is currently being promoted on RevealRenaissance.com.
